BCBSKS Recognizes Fraud Awareness Week

As we mark International Fraud Awareness Week, Nov 16–22, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBSKS) proudly reflects on more than four decades of collaboration and innovation to safeguard against health care fraud and improve fraud detection.

Our Special Investigations Unit (SIU) uses advanced analytics to identify suspicious activity and works closely with our internal teams and external partners —  including national and state-level anti-fraud partnerships — to investigate potential fraud, waste and abuse across medical, pharmacy and behavioral health benefits. These collaborative relationships help us share intelligence, stay ahead of emerging fraud schemes and contribute to broader industry efforts.

Education is a key pillar of our strategy. Throughout the year, BCBSKS hosts training sessions, shares fraud prevention tips and encourages employees, members and providers to report suspicious activity.

We offer multiple confidential channels for reporting suspected fraud, including online forms and a toll-free hotline: 1-833-599-2354. We encourage anonymous reporting to ensure everyone feels safe speaking up and we maintain a strict non-retaliation policy.

Fraud Awareness Week is a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect our health care system. At BCBSKS, we remain committed to transparency, vigilance and integrity in everything we do. Let’s keep fighting fraud together.
